Run Ted Run …

This morning not even Forrest would have beaten this little white rocket!

Im down the end of the farm … Shultz, Tana and Chelz are running free … Ted is on the end of a 10 metre rope …

I think … ahhh hes a good boy I will let him off to run with the others. Which he does and he leads me into a false sense of secutiry by running to me when he is called … then he bolted.

He ran flat stick down the race … the rest of us running after him. I send Tana to go home, hoping he with run ahead of Ted … which he does and goes straight over the road to the house side … but no Ted turns right and heads straight down Eastbank road not paying any attention to me yelling … I call Tana back … dying knackeredness … he was fantastic and does as he is told. I tie Shultz and Tana to the big gate … call Chelz and run flat stick down the road after this bloody dog. He stops every now and again in the middle of the road and looks at me … I call him but he takes off again … I ring Delys landline number in the hope she is home so that she can chase us down the road in a vehicle … all I get is my nephew grunting at me … I hang up as there is no use trying to talk to a teenage boy in a panic situation.

Finally a ute passes me, then stops – its a locals teenage boy … I jump on the back of the ute and he takes off after the white pocket rocket … we pull up to him and he just plonks himself down – total little shit.

I thank Mark with absolute relief. He offers to take me back as its a long way that we have travelled … but I assure him I need the long walk home to calm down …

I step in the back door and have a cuppa tea. I was going to start work at 9am … then the work phone goes and I have a huge stock attack to deal with. The farmer was brilliant and shot one of the dogs, then followed the other two back to where they lived.

I was able to uplift one of the attackers and the farmer positively idenitifed the dog. I could not find the wounded one he winged though. Then on the way back into town another dog attack came in. So … I didnt get home till about 4.30pm.

I was hoping to have a quiet day after yesterday … whatever …

There is a lot of water out in those paddocks and its raining again … someone needs to turn the switch off … getting a tad nervous.

  1. Oh Ted you have some character boy. You crack me up…..I love how you are keeping Andrea on her toes.

  2. OMG what a busy day. And, yes, I have one of those dogs that wont come back – well she comes back beautifully if there’s just me and her but if she sees another dog – that’s it. Driving me nuts. Booked in for more obedience lessons but I’m not convinced that will fix it. Mind you she’s only 10 months old – everyone tells me she’ll get better with age. We’ll see.

As for the stock attacks – thank goodness we don’t have to deal with that
